Equipment Guidance Basic training on the use of all equipment can be provided. If you are completely new to astronomy we can take you through the basics of recognising constellations to the locating planets and deep sky objects. We do not limit the equipment you can use due to a lack of experience. Tour the Universe Take a guided tour of the heavens. We will tell you the story of how ancient civilizations named the constellations. Using the 16 inch telescope we can take you through the Solar System then far back in time as we go into the depths of space. See Your Star If you have a star named after you, bring the details and we will locate it. This assumes the constellation is visible at the time of your visit. Please contact us if you need help. Telescopes Telescopes are available for all levels of experience: > Emery 16" f5 Newtonian Reflector on Fork Mount. This is housed in our 3m square roll off roof observatory > 10" f6 Dark Star Dobsonian Reflector > Orion Optics 8" f6 Reflector with Skysensor 2000 GOTO System > Eyepieces available TeleVue, Vixen Lanthanum LV, Antares W70 We also have demonstration scopes from the Scope Shop: > Skywatcher Explorer 130P Reflector on SynScan AZ GOTO mount > Skywatcher Skymax 127 Maksutov on EQ3-2 equatorial mount > Skywatcher Startravel 102 Refractor EQ1 equatorial mount Imaging Equipment > Explorer 130PDS reflector for DSLRs (NEW) > Starwave 70ED f6 Refractor for DSLRs (new for 2014) > Mintron Astro Video Camera with PC interface with amazing sensitivity for real-time viewing of deep sky objects > Nikon D50 DSLR & telescope adaptor > Canon 450D DSLR (Astroimage modified) and telescope adaptor > For imaging a piggy back camera mount and motorised equatorial mount With this equipment you can make images of astronomical objects and take them home. Misc. White light solar filter to fit 8" Orion Telescope Every effort is made to have the above equipment available at all times. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment, however, this is done so at your own risk. Remember no matter how late into the night you want to observe we will not leave you to struggle with unfamiliar equipment.
